Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0668604A1] The field emitter micro-dot cathode mfr. involves etching the three upper layers forming the gate (6), an insulator (5) and a cathode resistive layer (3) together, according to a single pattern defining the gate rows and the cathode micro-point resistances. There are cathode conductors (2) formed in a column network on a support substrate. The resistive layer carries the cathode emitters. Pref. the cathode conductors are formed in a first masking step, and emitter holes are formed in deposited cathode resistive, insulator and gate conductor layers in a second masking step.
