[origin: DE4238557A1] In a process for setting the moisture content in an offset rotary machine, a signal for modifying the moisture content is to be generated before the scumming limit is reached. For that purpose, the densitometrically measured optical density on a control strip is compared with a number of variably selectable adjacent zones. When an adjustable measurement threshold is exceeded, the moisture content is modified as appropriate, thus preventing spoilage.
