Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0669213A1] Tape is wound from a storage spool (11) to a receiving spool (8) by a step by step electric motor (7). The tape is guided through a printing head (18) and detector (1) by pulleys (15). Index marks appear at constant intervals on the tape. The detector (1) has two optical cells (1A,1B) which signal a microcomputer (12) as an index mark on the tape passes. The cells are spaced by a distance (D) and the microcomputer (12) also measures the number of motor steps required for this distance enabling the steps per unit time for constant tape speed to be calculated.
