[origin: EP0669279A1] The telescopic rod comprises several telescopic tubular sections (1-5) and a multi-stage piston cylinder unit (13) which at one end is connected to the outermost rod section (1) and at the other end is connected to the last inner section (5). On the inner base areas of at least some rod sections (3,4) are radially adjustable abutments (18,19) which are directed towards the outer sleeve face of the extended stages of the piston/cylinder unit (13). The first and last extensible rod sections (2,5) have fixed abutments (7,15) mounted adjoining the outer sleeve faces of the steps associated with same when the piston cylinder unit is extended. Swivel mounted pawls (24,25) are mounted as abutments along the inner circumference in the base area of the sections (3,4).
