[origin: DE4405671C1] An electric fence apparatus is described having a charge capacitor 2 and a switch 4 which is pulsed by a timer and discharges the charge capacitor 2 (which is charged via a converter 5, 5' to a preferably constant value) via a fence transformer 3 to an electric fence 6, 7 which is connected to the secondary of said fence transformer 3. In this case, the series circuit formed by the primary winding of the fence transformer 3, the switch 4 and the charge capacitor 2 forms a discharge circuit, and the series circuit formed by the charge capacitor 2 and the converter 5, 5' as well as the rectifier 9, which can optionally be provided, forms a charging circuit 8. According to the invention, a further element 10 is provided by means of which the charging circuit 8 can be decoupled by one or more poles from the discharge circuit 1, at least during the discharging process. <IMAGE>
