Abstract (en)
A filter for a smoking article has two axially aligned portions (5,6) which have different filtering conformations and are axially movable relative to each other so as to offer in respectively different relative positions different filter characteristics to smoke passing through the whole filter. An integral plug wrap (9) preferably unites the two portions and adopts a bellows formation (12) when the portions (5,6) are in a position of nearer approach. A sleeve (10) may support and guide the relative movement. <IMAGE>
