Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0671230A1] The system for removal of oxygen cutting beards (2) and pearls (22) from workpieces (1) is characterised by the presence of individually operable pistons in a block (19) of piston housings arranged transversely to the direction of the workpiece transport motion. These pistons are provided with exchangeable shear rings inclined at an angle from 0.2 to 2 degrees to the workpiece surface. The protrusions (beards, pearls) are removed by relative motion between the workpiece and the removal mechanism (23). The upper array (21) of pistons serves as a holding-down device. In this case it is equipped with rollers, sliders or similar elements, or the shear rings are provided with caps.
