[origin: WO9413204A1] A gas injector for introducing a gas into a liquid-filled vessel system has a carbon dioxide bottle (1) as pressure source connected to the inlets of proportional valves (8, 11). The carbon dioxide may be introduced into the blood vessel (26) through the proportional valve (8) and the catheter (23) with an adjustable volume flow. In addition, the blood vessel may be blocked by means of the balloon (24) which is inflatable through the proportional valve (8) and the lumen (23a) of the catheter (23).
