[origin: DE4241341C1] Described is a closure, in particular for bottles, with a cap (11), in particular a screw-on cap, made of plastic or a similar material, which is designed to be placed over the neck (10) of the bottle, and with a closure membrane (16) which rests against the top (15) of the cap. The closure membrane (16) rests against an annular rib (19) extending round the inside of the cap above the rim (17) of the bottle mouth (18). This support rib (19) is joined to the cap top (15) or the closure membrane (16) in such a way that, when an overpressure inside the closed bottle causes the closure membrane (16) and cap top (15) to bulge outwards, the closure membrane is lifted by the pressure away from the rim (17) of the bottle mouth (18), thus allowing the interior of the bottle to be automatically vented (arrow 20).
