[origin: WO9413046A1] The proposal is for a sparking plug (10) for the ignition of fuel-air mixtures in internal combustion engines, especially those of motor vehicles. At the base of its insulator (16/2) the plug has a coating (22) designed to protect the engine from misfiring and cold starting difficulties resulting from electrically conductive deposits, especially when fitted to new vehicles. Said coating (22) consists of solventless silicone rubber or resin. The silicone rubber may contain filler and has silicone oil to make it more processable. The inside (15/1) of the metal casing (11) within the combustion chamber is also adequately provided with this coating (22). The coating (22) is physiologically acceptable, non-polluting, fast to handling and requires no expensive extraction plant when sprayed on the corresponding area of the plug from nozzles.
