[origin: DE4409084A1] The wiper strip (6) of elastic material (12, 13), is accommodated in an open undercut channel in an oblong mounting (5), along which a water-absorbent cushion (22) extends, and is of mating cross-section (10, 1) for the channel. The strip is stiffened, so that either end is usable when extended from a channel end, and a locking device (15, 16) secured it in such positions. The device typically consists of a thrust bolt mounted in the main portion (7) and extending towards the strip, and engaging in one of several recesses in the latter. The bolt can be spring-loaded (20) in the engaged position, being lifted free by cams working together in the axial direction.
