There is provided a bleaching composition providing enhanced anti-silver tarnishing properties containing an oxygen-releasing bleach system comprising a hydrogen peroxide source and a peroxyacid bleach precursor compound selected from the group consisting of (i) an N-acylated lactam bleach precursor (ii) perbenzoic acid precursor (iii) perbenzoic acid derivative precursor (iv) cationic peroxyacid precursor and any combinations of (i) - (iv); and (b) an Mn(II) compound.i
