[origin: EP0673047A1] The switch has a manual operating button (2), displaced against a return spring bias, with a ratchet mechanism for holding the switch in the on position. The ratchet mechanism can be released manually, or electrically or electronically, with the operating button returned to the off position via the return spring bias. The ratchet uses a ratchet cam attached to the operating button and a cooperating ratchet element, which is released by moving it out of engagement with the cam, e.g. via a release electromagnet (7).
