[origin: EP0797982A1] The use of a simaba extract (A) to produce (a) cosmetic or pharmaceutical (esp. dermatological) compsns. and (b) culture media for cells and tissues (partic. bulk culture of skin cells, esp. keratinocytes) is new. (A) have (1) depigmenting action and stimulate differentiation of keratinocytes and (2) restore, preserve and/or reinforce the protective function of the skin (partic. its water-barrier function) cohesion of epidermal cells, and also improve quality of the hair.
