[origin: EP0674324A1] The outer tube (2) is produced in a main extruder from soft polyethylene and is coated on the inside (1) with a layer of polyethylene of higher density, applied by an auxiliary extruder through distribution channels to a thickness of about 0.3 mm. The total thickness of the tube wall is about 6 mm. Experiments with a tube of 112 mm outer dia. on cables of length 100 to 500 m, about 56% straight and 44% slightly curved, show pulling force requirements consistently between 56% and 60% of those of an unlined soft polyethylene tube.
