[origin: FR2677571A1] The tensile or compressive force (Ft) of the threaded member (18) is determined by the action of subtracting a torque applied upon unscrewing from a torque applied upon screwing, and by dividing this torque difference by a coefficient which is proportional to the pitch of the screw thread (19) of the said member. The recording of the torque values is carried out either statically at the limit of rest in screwing and unscrewing, or dynamically at a series of positions which correspond in screwing and in unscrewing. The method applies particularly to the measurement, monitoring and slaving of the tension of threaded fastening elements used in screwed assemblies. <IMAGE>
