Abstract (en)

The grinder is mounted on a carriage (2), carried by a self powered vehicle (1). During rail grinding, the vehicle is fixed, stationary relative to the rail, whilst the grinding carriage moves to and fro along the rail. The distance between carriage and vehicle is adjustable. In addition to rail joints, other localised faults can be ground. During grinding, the carriage may be connected to the vehicle by an electrical supply cable (13). The grinder may have a rotary wheel, driven by a motor and the carriage is also driven back and forth. A lifting device (36) may lift the carriage into the vehicle. There may be several, e.g. two or more, grinding carriages independent of each other, on the vehicle. <IMAGE>

Abstract (fr)

<IMAGE>
