Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9413306A1] Megakaryocytes and platelets are produced in culture by employing conditions inhibiting the formation of fibroblasts. Particularly, heparin is found to inhibit fibroblasts as well as inactivating factors produced by platelets which inhibit megakaryocyte formation. Isolation of a CD34<+>41<+> cell population which enriches for both megakaryocyte and granulocyte-macrophage progenitors is provided.
