[origin: WO9510373A1] A process is disclosed for subsequently working a tin sealing cap, in particular for beverage cans. A ring-shaped area (20, 24) of the top surface (10) of the cap that is radially contiguous to the bend between the top surface of the cap and the core groove is squeezed so that material from this ring-shaped area is pushed outwards through the adjacent bend (11) substantially in the radial direction. For that purpose, a coining surface (4 to 6, 30, 31) is used with a wedge-shaped outward and upward slant (25) that acts from the outside on the top surface of the cap.
