[origin: EP0676350A2] the device has a continuously driven endless conveying band (9), forming a loop (11) which lies adjacent the transported web loop (4). A secondary drive (12) allows a localised control of the velocity of the conveying band, for synchronisation with the transported web (1), so that the conveying band lies in support contact with the full length of the transported web loop. Pref. the continuous drive (10) for the conveying band is synchronised with the transport rate of the transported web, the secondary drive synchronised with a discontinuous feed for the transported web. <IMAGE>
