Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0676477A2] Appts. to turn over the edges of materials has a press plate which is drawn into the opening (18) of a shaping plate (2) from the side of the base tool (1). Also claimed is an operation where the component or section of material is laid on a press plate (3) inserted into the shaping plate (2) in relation to the opening (18), with its edges projecting round the press plate (3), and the press plate (3) is moved into the opening (18) to bring the material edges upwards. The folding plate (4) is positioned on the format plate (2) to bring the projecting material edges inwards, and the press plate (3) is drawn into the opening (18). The press plate (3) is pref. located at a sprung die (13) on the base tool (1), with a vertical sliding movement against the base tool (1). An opening (10) is in the base tool (1), towards the format plate (2), for the inserted format plate to form a chamber. The opening (10) is connected to a vacuum supply. A frame is inserted into the base tool (1) opening (10). The base tool (1) has a base plate (6) and an intermediate plate (7) with the opening (10) formed in the intermediate plate (7), which is sprung (8) to give supported vertical movement against the base plate (6). The shaping plate (4) has a recess (21) on the side towards the format plate (2) to lay the edges of the material, and matching laying bars (19) fit into the recesses (21, 23) in the shaping plate (4). The edges (22) of the recesses (21) are angled or have a concave radius to centre the plate (4). The shaping plate (4) is secured to a mounting plate (5) by quick change locks, or they are held together magnetically. <IMAGE>
