Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0677330A1] The document shredder has an opening (13) for the papers or other material, with a light barrier (14) provided that comprises a light transmitter (15) and receiver (16). The barrier has an alignment device with a comparator (30) which compares a reference signal with the output signal of the receiver. From the difference signal is generated a switching signal for the cutter drive motors. The signals from the receiver are digitalised using an A/D converter (27) and the store (31,32) is digital. It is a non-volatile store containing EEPROM or buffered RAM. The comparator controls the motors through electronic relays (19,20). The alignment phase is activated automatically by the main switch. <IMAGE>
