[origin: EP0677466A1] The sheet feed system supplies the sheets (16, 17, 18) to the printing machine in overlapping format, using a suction band table (1). A pressurised air stream is supplied in opposition to the transport direction (12) of the overlapping sheet stream, via a jet device (13), with a number of relatively small openings within a microporous structure and adjacent openings of larger dia. Pref. the larger dia. openings are provided by slits extending across the surface of each microporous structure and angle in opposition to the sheet transport direction. <IMAGE>
