The transporting/processing system has a transport/processing period duration which is dependent on the length format of the sheets, as in P4413238.7. The period duration is divided into sections the transport section incorporating a sheet position detection process, for allowing a new sheet to be introduced when the preceding sheet has reached a defined position. The sheet position may be provided by a sheet sensor (29) and/or by calculation, e.g. by calculating the position of the sheet rear edge after detection of the sheet front edge by the sheet sensor. <IMAGE>

Verfahren zum Transportieren/Bearbeiten von einzelnen flächigen Substraten entlang mindestens eines Transport-/Bearbeitungsabschnitts oder dergleichen - nachstehend Abschnitt genannt - in einer Maschine, insbesondere zum Zu- und Abführen von zu bedruckenden/bedruckten Bogen zu/von mindestens einem Druckwerk einer Druckmaschine, wobei die in dem Abschnitt vorliegende Periodendauer für den Transport/die Bearbeitung oder dergleichen von aufeinanderfolgenden Substraten vom Längsformat der Substrate abhängig ist. Es ist vorgesehen, daß im Abschnitt (Transportabschnitt 9) mindestens eine Substratpositionsbestimmung (erster Bogensensor 29) erfolgt und daß ein neues Substrat (Bogen 7) in den Abschnitt eingebracht wird, sobald die Substrathinterkante des Vorgängersubstrats eine bestimmte Position erreicht hat. <IMAGE>
