[origin: EP0677636A2] The method involves the following steps, first a elastic window pane (8) is made whose outer dimension is larger than the corresponding dimension of the cut-out (10). The window pane is then elastically deformed so that the outer dimension of the pane is less that the light width (X) of the cut-out. The pane is then arranged within the cut-out so that at least a section of the pane edge (20) aligns with the circumferential groove (16) of the cut-out (2). Finally the window pane is allowed to return to its original shape such that at least a portion of the pane is positioned within the circumferential groove. The edge (20) round the window pane (8) is pre-tensioned to rest against the peripheral edge (16) of the door panel (2). The rectangular groove is narrower than the wall thickness of the peripheral section fitting into it. The window pane is circular and made of polycarbonate. <IMAGE>
