Abstract (en)
The automatic locking system for ladders or transversely retractable ladders is constituted by two connecting rods (20,20b) pivoted and supported at the bottom (23) on the lower part of the ladder supports (1,2). The upper parts of the connecting rods are pivoted (21) in a central socket joint (22). The connecting rods are of a length such that in the ladder open position the socket joint acts a retaining stop against the first pivoting socket joint (5) forming part of the first step. The socket joint is solidly connected to the ladder supports and is guided and runs freely along the lower part of a central axial rod (7). In the open position of the ladder this rod abuts against the pivoting node) of the first step. This ensures symmetry of the ladder with a rectangular stabilising development. <IMAGE>
