[origin: WO9426299A1] Liposomes incorporating a density medium and having a defined density. The liposomes are useful as control reagents for monitoring density gradient centrifugation procedures, especially in centrifugal hematology and in immunoassay procedures. The density of the liposomes can be adjusted by the practitioner to correspond to the density of any component of a sample expected to band in a particular position in a density gradient centrifugation procedure.
