[origin: EP0678835A1] The coin evaluation mechanism has two motorised concentric discs (3,4) which turn in a plane inclined w.r.t. the horizontal. These include an internal separation disc (3) on which the coins are thrown in bulk and which is fitted with radial teeth (7) for coin separation and an external recognition disc (4), fitted with slots (8) on its periphery, situated in the extension of the teeth of the internal disc, so as to receive the separated coins. The coins are maintained against the slots by a sliding plate (13) situated under the external disc and by a circular border (12) surrounding the external disc. A semi-circular fixed bar (10), arranged at the separation level of the discs, retains the coins on the internal disc in its lower part. A recognition device has a certain number of detectors (16) arranged on the path of the slots of the external disc. <IMAGE>
