[origin: EP0679358A2] The hand dryer has an electric fan (7) and an electric heating device (11) for heating the air stream discharged by the fan. The dryer has a similar appearance to a water tap and is positioned directly above, or at the side of a washbasin worksurface (4). Pref. the fan and the electric heating device are positioned beneath the washbasin worksurface, with automatic operation of the dryer via a proximity sensor (6), adjacent the discharger jet (5) for the hot air, or via a manually operated switch. <IMAGE>
