[origin: EP0679472A1] The grinding device has a guide (7) running parallel to the roller (16) to be ground. A grinding member (8) is mounted on this roller and is movable along it by a displacement drive (13). It is adjustable against the roller by an adjustment drive (5). For the guide a rotary drive (10) is provided, which sets the guide in rotary movement around its longitudinal axis. The grinding member is formed by a rotation symmetrical grinding unit and is non-rotatively connected to the guide. The guide is formed as a hollow shaft (7'), and the grinding member works in conjunction with a driver (15), which extends through a slot in the hollow shaft. <IMAGE>
