Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0679854A1] The installation uses elastic balls of a sponge material, forced through the tubes by a flow of water to clean their inner surfaces. A number (n) of parallel sections each have a branch pipe (6) and a recuperator (7) for the balls, mounted at the outlet end (4) of each section. Each section also has a drive pump (8), a holder (9) for the balls, and an injector (10) which feeds the balls into the sections. A single injector (11) for new balls feeds each branch pipe in turn via pipes (12,15) and valves (13,16). The new ball injector is connected through a pipe (17) with a valve (18) to a source of water under pressure, or to a pump linked to the tube assembly feed pipe. The injector is in the shape of a body of revolution, with the pipe connected to it tangentially and equipped with a system for impregnating the new balls with water so that their density is increased. <IMAGE>
