The journal-mounted roll for an installation for continuous casting of metal strip, by means of one or two such rolls, comprises an outer shell (18) made of material with high thermal conductivity, and a central core (24) with a journal (25). Channels (17) for a coolant (in particular, water) run through the shell parallel to the roll axis. In Walzenzapfen gelagerte Walze für eine Einrichtung zum kontinuierlichen Gießen von metallischen Bändern mittels einer oder zweier derartiger Walzen, mit einem äußeren Mantel aus einem gut wärmeleitenden Material, der in einem Kühlsektor aus flüssigem Metall Erstarrungswärme ableitet, und einem mittigen. in Walzenzapfen auslaufenden Kern, wobei durch den Mantel parallel zur Walzenachse Kühlkanäle verlaufen, die mit einem Kühlmittel, insbesondere Wasser, beaufschlagt werden, wobei an den Walzen (1) stirnseitig außen Kühlmittelrohre (5,20) angeordnet sind, die eine, vorzugsweise einstellbare Kühlmittel-Verteileinrichtung (6,22), die auf einem Walzenzapfen (19,25) angeordnet ist, mit den Kühlkanälen (2) verbinden. <IMAGE>
