[origin: EP0680795A1] The journal-mounted roll for an installation for continuous casting of metal strip, by means of one or two such rolls, comprises an outer shell (18) made of material with high thermal conductivity, and a central core (24) with a journal (25). Channels (17) for a coolant (in particular, water) run through the shell parallel to the roll axis. Coolant pipes (20) located outside, next to the roll faces connect the channels (17) to a preferably adjustable distributer unit (22) on the roll journal (25). <IMAGE>

Walze für eine Anlage zum kontinuierlichen Gießen mittels einer oder zweier Walzen mit einem äußeren, gut wärmeleitenden Mantel, insbesondere aus einer Kupferlegierung und einem mittigen Kern, wobei der gut wärmeleitende Mantel aus Segmenten (14,20) zusammengesetzt ist, die bei Arbeitstemperatur eine fugenlose Oberfläche (8) ausbilden. <IMAGE>
