Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0680894A2] The packaging system extracts newspapers or periodicals from a stack and feeds them to a flexible packaging element (28), which is then sealed. The packaging element has a rectangular reception surface (30) for the newspapers or periodicals, with fixing surfaces (24, 26) on either side of it, of sufficient length for wrapping around the deposited items, with their overlapping ends secured together. Each of the fixing surfaces is initially folded at right angles to extend along the side of the deposited items, before again folding at right angle to lie across their top surface. The ends of the fixing surfaces have sealing means secured together by applied pressure. <IMAGE>
