Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0681924A1] The writing implement consists of a body (2) with its rear section forming a reservoir (8) for the ink (9), and a tip (12) with its rear end in the reservoir and its front end projecting from the body to write with, surrounded by an ink storage pad (13). The ink is a liquid with a surface tension of between 21 and 25mN/m and is designed for application on non-absorbent surfaces such as metals or plastics, and the material of the storage pad has a surface tension which is lower than that of the ink, so that it can absorb excess ink from the tip (12) by capillary action. The surface tension of the pad's material is reduced by treating it with an agent such as polysiloxane or fluorinated resin. The pad itself is made from a porous or fibrous material such as polypropylene or polyester. <IMAGE>
