A sufficient length of web (2) of wrapping material such as paper is drawn from a supply whereby the first end is guided with sliding action and folded up against the back of the block (1) whilst the second end during its downward movement along the back of the block is separated from the supply and stuck to the upwardly folded first end. The block is clamped whilst the two web ends are connected together at the back. The wrapping machine includes a flap (48) forming a support for the lower part of the web which is drawn by the forward movement of the block. This flap can be moved up behind the block to bring the lower end of the web up sufficiently high against the back of the block for overlapping.

Eine Bahn (2) aus Einwickelmaterial, insbes. Papier, wird von einem Vorrat in einer Länge abgezogen, die dem von einer Vorderseite (3), Rückseite (6), Oberseite (4) und Unterseite (5) gebildeten Umfang eines zu umwickelnden Quaders (1) zuzüglich einer Überlappung (7) entspricht. Dabei wird die Bahn (2) oberhalb der Ebene der Oberseite (4) des Quaders (1) aufgehängt und bildet unterhalb der Ebene der Unterseite (5) des Quaders (1) ein erstes Bahnende. Der Quader (1) wird mit seiner Vorderseite (3) gegen die aufgehängte Bahn (2) bewegt und in einem ungefähr rechten Winkel zu dieser weiterbewegt, wobei sich die Bahn (2) auch an die Oberseite (4) und die Unterseite (5) des Quaders (1) anlegt. Dann wird das erste Bahnende an der Rückseite (6) des Quaders (1) nach oben geklappt. Ein zweites, noch mit dem Vorrat verbundenes Bahnende wird von der Oberseite (4) des Quaders (1) aus an dessen Rückseite (6) angelegt, im Verlauf seiner Abwärtsbewegung entlang der Rückseite (6) des Quaders (1) vom Vorrat abgetrennt und dort mit dem nach oben geklappten ersten Bahnende verbunden, insbesondere verklebt. <IMAGE>
