Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0681974A1] The transport roller has a stationary roller core (1) and a relatively rotatable outer mantle (2) incorporating a number of suction openings (3), around which the paper web is passed. The suction source is coupled to an internal suction guide (6, 7) at the inner circumference of the outer mantle, for providing a wedge-shaped suction surface at the mantle periphery, with its apex facing in the opposite direction of the roller rotation. The suction surface widens out to either side of the apex at the same angle, with a width at its base corresponding to the width of the paper web. The outer dia. of the roller tapers inwards from each outer edge towards the centre. <IMAGE>
