[origin: EP0681982A1] A process for separating sliver coming from a textile machine entails its supply via a pair of calender rollers into a turning dish with a sliver guide channel, laying it in a canister and stopping its transport to create a parting spot between calender pair and channel. Before parting, the separation spot is drawn out by a clamp (1) to form a stretch point in the sliver which is then parted by a separation procedure, e.g. by displacing the clamp (1) sufficiently. Also claimed is the appts. for implementation being a separation device between calender pair and sliver guide channel and comprising here a sliver clamp and canister displacement means. <IMAGE>
