The end (4) of the screw blank (1) facing away from the head (2) has a reduced or decreasing external diameter (dr) in relation to the remainder of the blank's length. The screw thread in the end of the screw blank is not completely rolled out. The standard threaded section (3) is in the form of a centering section. The total thread is rolled in one process over the entire length of the screw shank with a form tool whose profiling over the total length of the screw being produced is the same, and parallel to the blank's lengthwise axis (7). Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Schraube, welche wenigstens über einen Teilbereich ihrer Längserstreckung mit einem standardmäßigen Gewindeabschnitt (3) und über ihren vom Schraubenkopf (2) abgewandten Endbereich (4, 9, 10, 11, 13) mit einem gegenüber dem standardmäßigen Gewindeabschnitt (3) geringeren Außendurchmesser (dr) und/oder mit abgerundeten Spitzen (8) auszubilden ist, wird der Schraubenrohling (1) in seinem Endbereich (4, 9, 10, 11, 13) mit einem gegenüber der übrigen Länge des Rohlings (1) verringerten bzw. sich verringernden Außendurchmesser (dr) ausgebildet und dadurch wird im Endbereich (4, 9, 10, 11, 13) des Schraubenrohlings (1) das Schraubengewinde unvollständig ausgewalzt. <IMAGE>
