[origin: EP0682387A1] The connector base is assembled from a forward insulating block (3) with openings (300) arranged in unequal numbers in two rows for insertion of the contact elements (5), a rearward insulating block (2) with a central region (20) between two wings (21,22) whose faces (210,220) rest on a printed circuit board (not depicted), and a forward casing (4) of metal with a central opening (400) for the block (3) and a skirt (41). The casing provides a screen and connection for a complementary socket and has two series of tabs (42,43) for engagement with notches (301;2110 etc.) in the edges of the respective blocks. <IMAGE>
