Abstract (en)
For a portable telephone set having a display portion for displaying various information associated with call origination and reception, a gyro for detecting inclination of a main body is provided. When substantially horizontal position of the main body for dialing is detected by the gyro, power supply for the display portion is initiated. On the other hand, when the vertical position of the main body for speaking is detected by the gyro, power supply for the display portion is shut off. <IMAGE>
