[origin: WO9411116A1] An application method and apparatus making able to apply a paper web or like in whatever stage of the process from the first dewatering step until the final drying step. The process comprises forming a fog from the coating slurry and directing the fog into a nozzle (24), which is not in physical contact with the web (11). The coating layer is smoothened after the application, using e.g. a doctor blade (32), or in surface sizing the web is led between two rollers.
