[origin: EP0683290A1] The support roller for a semi-rigid cover to be fitted over a swimming pool includes a dry housing (3) set into the ground below the edge of the swimming pool (30). Within this housing there are two rollers (1, 2) with their axes parallel. One of these rollers (1) comprises the core of the roll formed by the cover, and the other roller (2) carries the weight and tension of cover as it is wound or unwound. The second roller includes a set of longitudinal ribs (20) which engage corresponding grooves in the underside of the curtain material. The curtain (22) slides over a guide (21), beneath a cover (5) which fits over the whole housing and assembly. <IMAGE>
