[origin: WO9516593A1] Proposed is a pedal-actuated power brake system with a pedal-travel simulator (34) and a reference-value indicator (58) linked to the pedal-travel simulator. For instance, a second sensor which may be used alternatively as the reference-value indicator (59) may be fitted. The second reference-value indicator (59) is a pressure indicator. The size of the signals from the two reference-value indicators (58 and 59) is monitored by an electronic control unit (60) for essential correspondance. If any undue difference in signal size occurs, power-brake operation is suppressed. Braking is then possible by means of an emergency braking cylinder (44). The power-brake system proposed is suitable for use in passenger and goods vehicles, in particular vehicles equipped with an antilocking brake system (ABS) or an antislip control system (ASR).
