Abstract (en)

The sonar aerial (1) comprises a number of assemblies which are preferably identical, each comprising a piezoelectric motor and a bell fixed to a common counterweight (9). The counterweight is a cylindrical shape about an axis (ZZ1). The longitudinal axes of the separate assemblies are coplanar and radial w.r.t. the central axis of the cylindrical counterweight. The outer surfaces of the individual elements are coated with an electrically insulating and sealant layer (5). This may be a moulded rubber layer. Each device may also include a baffle near to the transducer, the baffle being made of a light, cellular material.
