A device for modifying the thread run at a spooler winding position where a thread runs from a take-off spool to a wind-on spool is located above the take-off spool. The device (10) has a guiding surface (17) in the form of a truncated cone where the contour of greater dia. faces the take-off spool and the cone is incised with a truncated pyramid surface (P) such that its edges (18) penetrate the cone shape to form flutes (19). Cone and pyramid taper in the same direction and the cone (k) and pyramid axes (p) coincide. The pyramid cross section forms a polygon with an odd number of equal sides and at least five corners.

Wenn an einer Spulmaschine ein Faden umgespult wird, vollführt der Faden eine ballonförmige Schwingung um die Ablaufspule. Die Ballonform hat Einfluß auf die Fadenzugkraft und damit auf das Verhalten des Fadens während des Spulens. Zur Herabsetzung der Störrate wird mittels einer erfindungsgemäßen Einrichtung der Fadenlauf dadurch beeinflußt, daß die Einrichtung (10) eine Führungsfläche (17) für den Faden (6) aufweist, die die Form des Kegelstumpfmantels aufweist, dessen Kontur (25) mit dem größeren Druckmesser der Ablaufspule (1) zugewandt ist, daß der Kegelstumpfmantel (17) von einem Pyramidenstumpfmantel (P) so durchdrungen ist, daß die Kanten (18) des Pyramidenstumpfmantels (P) den Kegelstumpfmantel (17) Einkerbungen (19) bildend druchstoßen, daß die Konizität des Kegelstumpfmantels (17) und des Pyramidenstumpfmantels (P) in die gleiche Richtung weisen, daß die Achse (k) des Kegelstumpfmantels (17) und die Achse (p) des Pyramidenstumpfmantels (P) zusammenfallen und daß die Querschnittsflächen a des Pyramidenstumpfmantels (P) gleichseitige, ungeradzahlige Vielecke (18) mit wenigstens fünf Ecken sind. <IMAGE>
