[origin: EP0684336A2] Continuous fabrics (15) with alternating regions of different thickness, esp. terry fabrics with cross strips without pile, are aligned by closely spaced upper (2) and lower (1) guide rails across the fabric. The upper guide rail (2) carries a series of guide elements (4) which can move vertically and the fabric runs between the guide elements (4) and the lower guide rail (1). The guide elements (4) move freely in the upper guide rail (2) and bear against the fabric (5) by gravity due to their weight.
