[origin: EP0684385A1] The pressure reduction device uses a bypass line across the suction regulation valve (4) inserted in the suction line (3) of the compressor (1), containing a pair of parallel venting valves (23, 24), for controlling respective vent paths. One of the vent valves (24) is controlled by the pressure immediately in front of the compressor and is opened when this pressure is above a required pressure selected via a spring-loaded pressure holding valve (29). Both the venting valves and the pressure holding valve may be contained in a common valve housing (39). <IMAGE>
