[origin: EP0684390A1] The cylinder has a floating piston (3) whose radial arm (7) extends out of the cylinder via a longitudinal slit (6). The inside of the slit is sealed by a loose fitting elastic strip seal (9) which passes through the piston arm via a slot (11). The inner pressure of the cylinder presses the sealing strip onto the slit to seal the pressure chamber. The sealing strip has a cross-sectional profile to locate in the tapering slit under internal pressure. An outer sealing strip (10) reinforces the sealing action. The outer strip passes through a second slot (12) in the piston arm. <IMAGE>
