[origin: EP0684668A2] The pin socket has an insulating upper part (9), providing a 2-part plastics housing (3), enclosing an inner space containing a contact device, with a spring (21,22) supported by the base and a contact supported by the upper part, cooperating to clamp the inserted contact pin. Pref. the upper part of the housing is interchangeable to match different contact pin sizes and is fitted with corresp. contacts, at the appropriate relative spacing.
